No board yet

A board holds columns, and columns hold sticky notes. Create one and it opens with To Do, In Progress and Done.

Shortcuts when no field has the focus: N new note, B new board, C new column, / search, E export the board, Esc close a window. Drag notes and columns with the mouse; on a touch screen move a note by editing it and picking the column.

How to Use StickyBoard: Step-by-Step

Create a board

Press New board, give it a name (a project, a week, a course, a move) and it opens with three columns: To Do, In Progress and Done. Make as many boards as you like and switch between them with the list in the toolbar; rename or delete the open one with the two buttons beside it.

Shape the columns

Add column puts a new column at the right end; the pencil on a column header renames it and the bin deletes it with its notes after a confirmation. Drag a header to reorder the columns. Backlog, Blocked, Review, Waiting and Done are common names; a column is just a stage in your flow.

Add sticky notes

Add note at the foot of a column opens a window for the title, an optional description of up to 2,000 characters, an optional due date and one of eight colours. The note appears in the column at once; each note shows its colour, its due date with an amber or red mark when it is near or past, and its word count.

Move notes along

Drag a note to another column or to a new place in its own column; a slot shows where it will land. On a phone or tablet, or with the keyboard, open the note with Edit and pick the destination in the Column list. The count in each column header follows.

Search, duplicate, archive

The search box hides every note that does not contain the words you type, across all columns. The buttons on a note edit, duplicate, archive or delete it. Archived notes sit under the board in their own list, where Restore returns them to the first column and the bin removes them for good.

Export and import

Export board writes the open board to a file; Export all writes every board. Import reads either kind and adds the boards to this browser without touching the ones already there. The file is the only copy outside your browser, so export before clearing site data or changing computers.

Why Choose StickyBoard?

🔒 Your plans stay with you

A task board says what you are working on, for whom and by when. StickyBoard has no account, no server and no sync: every board lives in your browser's storage on your own device, and the only copy that leaves it is a file you export yourself.

⚡ Nothing to set up

No sign-up, no workspace, no invitations, no plan to pick. Press New board and start writing notes. The tool loads in a moment and works as fast as the browser can draw, because there is no round trip to anyone's server.

🗂️ Columns that match your flow

Three columns to start, any number after that, each renamed, reordered or removed in a click. A board for a product launch, another for the garden, a third for the exams: each keeps its own columns and its own archive.

🎨 Colours and dates you can read at a glance

Eight note colours for whatever scheme you choose, and due dates that turn amber two days out and red when missed, so the board tells you where to look before you have read a word.

📱 Works on a phone too

The columns scroll sideways and snap into place, the note actions are always visible, and a note moves between columns from its edit window, since fingers cannot drag the way a mouse does.

💾 Files you own

A board or all your boards export to one plain file that imports on any other computer, which doubles as a backup and as the way to hand a board to someone else. No format lock-in and no subscription to keep your own notes.

Kanban in Short

📋 Columns are stages

A kanban board shows work as cards moving left to right through the stages it passes. The classic three are To Do, In Progress and Done, but the stages should be yours: Idea, Drafting, Review, Published for writing; Backlog, This Week, Doing, Blocked, Done for a team of one. The point is to see at a glance where everything is.

🚦 Limit the work in progress

The one rule that makes kanban work: keep few cards in the middle columns. If In Progress holds twelve notes, nothing is really in progress. Pick a limit (three is a good start), and when the column is full, finish something before starting the next. Watching that column shrink is the most satisfying part of the board.

🔁 Review and clear

Once a week, read the board top to bottom: archive what is done, delete what no longer matters, give dates to what has slipped, and move the stuck notes to a Blocked column with a line saying why. A board that is tidied weekly stays useful; one that is not becomes a list of guilt.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many boards, columns and notes can I have?

As many as fit in your browser's storage for this site, usually about five megabytes, which is thousands of notes. Each board has its own columns and archive, and the toolbar switches between boards. A board starts with To Do, In Progress and Done, which you can rename, reorder or delete.

How do I move a note?

Drag it with the mouse to another column or to another place in the same column; a slot shows where it will land. On a touch screen, or with the keyboard, open the note with Edit and pick the column in the Column list, which moves it to the end of that column. Columns are moved by dragging their header.

What do the colours mean?

Whatever you decide. The eight colours (yellow, pink, blue, green, purple, orange, red, cyan) carry no built-in meaning; a common scheme is yellow for ordinary tasks, red for urgent, green for approved, purple for ideas and cyan for meetings. Due dates add their own marks: amber when a note is due within two days, red when it is overdue.

Can I undo a deletion?

No: deleting a note, a column or a board asks for confirmation and is then final. Archive a note instead when you may want it back; the archive under the board keeps it with the column it came from, and Restore puts it back in the first column. Export a backup before deleting a board.

Where are my boards stored, and can I move them to another computer?

In your browser's storage on this device, under the tool's own name. Nothing is sent to a server and there is no account. Export board writes the current board to a file and Export all writes every board; Import reads either kind on another computer and adds the boards without touching the ones already there.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

It is free, with no registration and no limits. Like every page on ZeroDataUpload, it is supported by advertising.
