1. Getting Started
1.1 What you need
- A modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari or Opera) with JavaScript enabled, on a computer, tablet or phone
- Site data allowed for zerodataupload.com, so your levels, streaks and badges are kept between visits
- About five minutes for a session
1.2 The layout
The tool is one page. The toolbar shows your day streak on the left and five pill tabs on the right: Dashboard (the daily session, your numbers, the skill bars and this week's chart), Games (a custom session and the six games), Progress (the seven-day chart, personal bests, recent games and Export), Badges and Settings. While a game runs, the tabs and the streak give way to the game area, and Leave game brings them back. On a tablet or a phone the cards stack one above the other.
1.3 Where your scores go
Nowhere but this browser. Your levels, bests, streaks, the last fifty games, the badges and the settings are kept in the browser's storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account or leaderboard. The only copy that leaves the browser is the file you export yourself.
2. The Dashboard
- Daily Brain Training: the big button starts a session of three random games (section 3).
- Games played: every finished game, single or in a session.
- Overall level: the average of the six skill levels, rounded down; Beginner up to 2, Intermediate from 3, Advanced from 5, Expert from 8.
- Best streak: the longest run of consecutive days with at least one game.
- Today's score: the points scored since midnight in your time zone; it resets each day.
- Skill Areas: a bar per skill showing the experience points towards the next level (100 per level) and the level itself.
- This Week: the points scored on each of the last seven days, today on the right.
3. Sessions
Daily session. Three of the six games, picked at random, one after another. Each starts with a three-second countdown; the result window between games shows the score, accuracy and level and offers Next game, or Back to games to stop. After the third game the button reads Play again.
Custom session. On the Games tab, tick the skills you want to work on (all six are ticked at first; a dimmed tile is unticked) and click Start custom session. The three games are drawn from the ticked skills, so with one skill ticked you play that game three times. At least one skill must be ticked.
Single game. Click any of the six game cards on the Games tab. Play again in the result window repeats the same game.
Leaving. Leave game under the game area stops the clock. If answers have been given, a confirmation asks first, because a game left early is not scored.
4. The Six Games
4.1 Memory Sequence
Cells on a grid light up one after another, 0.6 seconds each. When the last goes dark, tap the cells back in the same order. A right tap flashes green; a wrong one flashes red, counts as a wrong answer and a new sequence starts. Finishing the sequence is one correct answer. The grid is three by three with four steps at level one, and grows by one cell per two levels (to five by five) and one step per level (to nine).
4.2 Pattern Recognition
Four numbers and a question mark. The rule is a constant step (the step grows with the level), a constant multiplier of two or three, or each number the sum of the previous two. Pick the fifth number from four buttons; the wrong ones lie within about 30% of the answer, so the rule has to be found rather than guessed.
4.3 Mental Math
Levels one and two: addition and subtraction with numbers to 20. Levels three and four: addition, subtraction and multiplication with numbers to 50 and multipliers to 10. From level five: numbers to 100 and multipliers to 12. Subtractions never go negative. Type the answer and press Enter or tap Submit; the number keyboard opens on a phone.
4.4 Word Finding
The letters of a word are shuffled; type the word. Three-letter words at levels one and two, five-letter words at three and four, words of six to nine letters from five. Case does not matter. A hint under the field gives the number of letters.
4.5 Spatial Reasoning
A shape is shown turned by 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees in the Target box; the four options show the same shape at each angle in random order. Tap the one at the target's angle. The shapes are triangles, diamonds, pentagons, stars, arrows and flags, which all look different when turned.
4.6 Attention Focus
A grid hides three to six copies of a target symbol, shown above the grid, among similar symbols. Tap every copy: a right tap turns green, a wrong tap turns red and counts as an attempt. The round is one correct answer once all copies are found. The grid grows from four by four to seven by seven with the level.
5. Scoring, Levels and Difficulty
- Points: 10 per correct answer times the level at that moment. Wrong answers score nothing.
- Level during a game: in Adaptive mode the game starts at the skill's level and rises by one every five correct answers; in Easy, Medium or Hard it is fixed at 1, 3 or 5.
- Experience: the score of a finished game is added to that skill's experience points; the skill level is one plus the points divided by 100.
- Personal best: the highest score in a single game of that skill.
- Accuracy: correct answers divided by attempts, where a wrong tap in Attention Focus is an attempt.
6. The Timer and the Result Window
Each game runs for the time chosen under Settings: 30 seconds, 1 minute (the default), 1.5 or 2 minutes. The timer in the game header turns amber at 20 seconds and red, pulsing, at 10. At zero the game ends, a round in progress is not scored, and the result window shows the score, the accuracy and the level reached, with a line of encouragement that depends on both. The window stays until you choose Play again (or Next game) or Back to games; clicking outside it does nothing, so a stray tap cannot lose the result.
7. Progress
- Last Seven Days: the same chart as the dashboard, points per day.
- Personal Bests: the highest single-game score in each skill.
- Recent Games: the last ten, newest first, with the level reached, correct answers over attempts, the score and the day.
- Export Progress: downloads everything as a file (section 10).
8. Badges
Fifteen badges, each with a condition, lit when unlocked and greyed when not; the card header counts them. First Steps (first game), Getting Started (5), Regular Trainer (10), Dedicated (25), Elite Trainer (50); On a Roll (3-day streak), Week Warrior (7-day streak); Memory Master, Math Wizard, Pattern Pro, Word Smith, Spatial Ace and Focus Guru (level 5 in that skill); All-Rounder (level 3 in all six); High Scorer (500 or more in one game). A badge, once unlocked, stays unlocked.
9. Settings
- Sound effects: a short tone for the countdown, a correct answer and a wrong answer. On by default; switch it off if you play somewhere quiet.
- Dark theme: the same theme as the rest of the site, also on the moon button at the top right of every page.
- Difficulty: Adaptive (the default), Easy, Medium or Hard, as in section 5.
- Time per game: 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
10. Export, Import and Reset
- Export as JSON (Progress tab or Settings): downloads mind-sharp-progress-<date>.json with the levels, bests, streaks, the last fifty games, the badges and the settings.
- Import a file (Settings): choose an exported file. A confirmation shows how many games and what best streak the file holds; confirming replaces the progress in this browser with the file's. The earlier version's export, which held the progress object alone, is accepted too. A file that is not a MindSharp export is refused with a message.
- Reset all data (Settings): after a confirmation, removes every score, level, streak, badge and setting the tool stored in this browser.
11. Keyboard Shortcuts
- 1 to 5: switch to Dashboard, Games, Progress, Badges or Settings (outside a game, when no field has the focus)
- Enter: submit the answer in Mental Math and Word Finding
- Esc: close a confirmation window
12. What Is Remembered
Two entries in the browser's storage under the tool's own name: the progress (games played, streaks and the date of the last game, today's score and its date, the six skills with level, experience and best, the last fifty games, the unlocked badges) and the settings (sound, difficulty, time per game). They are written after every game and every change. If the earlier MindSharp left its data in this browser under its old names, it is read once on the first visit, carried over and the old copies removed. The theme is the site's own setting, shared with every page.
13. Troubleshooting
- No sound. Check the switch under Settings and the device volume. Browsers block sound until you have clicked on the page; the Start button counts.
- The number keyboard does not open on my phone. Tap the answer field; the math game asks for a numeric keyboard, but some phones show the full one anyway.
- The sequence is too fast. Each cell shows for 0.6 seconds, which is fixed; a lower fixed difficulty gives shorter sequences.
- My streak reset. Streaks count calendar days on this device; a missed day, a different device or cleared site data breaks them.
- Today's score looks wrong. It counts points since midnight in your time zone and resets each day; the earlier version never reset it.
- The progress is gone. Site data was cleared, a private window was closed or a different browser profile is in use. Import the last export.
- Shortcuts do nothing. They work outside a game only, with no field focused. Click an empty part of the page first.
14. Support
Short answers are on the FAQ page. For anything else, use the contact form and say which browser and device you use and which game it concerns.
