1. Getting Started
1.1 What you need
- A modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari or Opera) with JavaScript enabled, on a computer, tablet or phone
- Site data allowed for zerodataupload.com, so your entries, XP and badges are kept between visits
- A minute or two a day
1.2 The layout
The tool is one page. The toolbar shows your level badge with the XP bar and today's date on the left, and on the right four pill tabs, Dashboard, History, Insights and Settings, with a jump list of your areas beside them. Clicking an area card on the dashboard or picking one from the jump list opens that area's items; the arrows at its top right step to the previous or next area and the back button returns to the dashboard. On a tablet or phone the cards stack one above the other and the date is hidden.
1.3 Where your entries go
Nowhere but this browser. Every day's answers, your custom items, your XP, badges and settings are kept in the browser's storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. The only copy that leaves the browser is the backup file you export yourself.
2. The Dashboard
- Your Life Discipline Score: today's overall score on a ring, a line of encouragement, and four chips: the current streak, days tracked, the best streak and the number of perfect days (80% or more).
- Your Progress: the level with its icon, the XP bar and the XP to the next level, and your most recent badges with the count unlocked.
- Your Areas Today: one card per switched-on area with today's score, how many of its items are filled and whether it has been tracked yet. Click a card to open the area.
3. Tracking an Area
An area's page shows its icon, name, today's score and a line with the number of items filled and the area's weight in the overall score. Beneath it, one card per item with the item's name, an importance chip (Critical, High, Medium, Low or Info), the control, a target where there is one and a hint where the catalogue gives one. Answer the items you care about and skip the rest; an unanswered item does not count. Every change is kept at once and the score at the top follows. Save entry at the bottom awards the day's XP and checks the badges (section 6). The arrows at the top right move to the neighbouring areas in the dashboard's order.
4. The Four Item Types
- Yes / no: a button that reads "Yes, I did this". Click to mark it done, click again to clear it. Done scores 100, cleared counts as unanswered; there is no explicit No, because the tool does not punish silence.
- Number: a field with minus and plus buttons and the unit. Type a value or step it. The target shows beneath; for less-is-better items it reads "at most". Clear the field to leave the item unanswered.
- Rating: five stars. Click a star for a rating from 1 to 5; click the same star again to clear it.
- Time: a time field, with the target beneath where there is one. Clear it to leave the item unanswered.
5. Scores and Weights
- Item score: yes 100, no 0; rating 1 to 5 scores 0, 25, 50, 75, 100; a number scores its share of the target capped at 100, or for less-is-better items (screen time, snoozes, night wakings, sleep debt, time to fall asleep, gaming and video time) 100 at or under the target and falling beyond it; a time scores 100 within 5 minutes of the target, 90 within 15, 70 within 30, 50 within 60, 25 within 120, 0 beyond. A number with no target scores 50 for being tracked.
- Importance: Critical counts three times, High twice, Medium once, Low half; Info is never scored.
- Area score: the weighted average of the answered items.
- Overall score: the weighted average of the tracked areas, each with its own weight: Sleep, Self-Discipline, Partner, Dating and Parenting 1.5; Emotional Wellness 1.3; Health and Work 1.2; Hydration, Hygiene, Home and Recreation 0.8; the rest 1.
6. Saving, XP, Levels and Badges
6.1 Save entry
Pressing Save entry in any area recounts the streaks, awards the day's XP if it has not been awarded yet, checks the fifteen badges and, if the XP crosses a threshold, raises your level. A window announces each badge and each level, one after the other.
6.2 XP
10 XP for the day, plus 5 for an overall score of 50 or more, 10 for 70 or more, 20 for 90 or more, plus one XP per day of the current streak up to 30. Awarded once per day. Each badge adds its own XP, from 10 for First Steps to 2,000 for Year Champion.
6.3 Levels
Beginner (0 XP), Novice (100), Apprentice (300), Practitioner (600), Skilled (1,000), Advanced (1,500), Expert (2,200), Master (3,000), Grandmaster (4,000), Legend (5,500).
6.4 Streaks
A tracked day has at least one scored item. The streak is the run of consecutive tracked days ending today, or yesterday if today has nothing yet. The perfect-day streak is the run of days at 80% or more. Both are counted in the device's time zone and the bests are kept.
6.5 The fifteen badges
- First Steps: the first tracked day. Getting Started: 7 days tracked.
- Week Warrior, Month Master, Century Club, Year Champion: streaks of 7, 30, 100 and 365 days.
- Perfect Week: 7 days in a row at 80% or more. Perfect Month: the last 30 tracked days average 80% or more.
- Early Bird: "Wake up time" in Daily Routine before 6:00 on 30 days.
- Fitness Freak: "Exercised" (Health) 30 days in a row. Zen Master: "Meditated" (Mindfulness) 30 days in a row. Digital Detoxer: "Met screen time limits" (Digital Wellness) 30 days in a row. Bookworm: "Read today" (Learning) 30 days in a row.
- Money Master: the Financial area at 80% or more on 30 days.
- Bounce Back: tracked again after a gap of three days or more.
7. Custom Items
The Custom area starts empty. Add a custom item (the button at the bottom, or the one in the empty state) opens a window: a name of up to 50 characters, the type, a target and unit for a number, a target time for a time, the importance and a hint of up to 50 characters. Add item puts it on the page. Under each custom item six buttons pin it to the top, move it up or down, duplicate it, edit it or delete it (after a confirmation; today's value goes with it, older days keep theirs). Up to a hundred custom items can be kept. The Custom area weighs once in the overall score.
8. History and the Heatmap
Month Heatmap: every day of the month in a grid, grey when nothing was tracked and in five deepening shades for 1 to 20%, 21 to 40%, 41 to 60%, 61 to 80% and 81 to 100%, with a ring around today. Hover over or focus a day to read its score. The arrows step through the months.
Recent Days: the last seven tracked days with the overall score and the number of areas tracked.
9. Insights
- Weekly Averages: each area's mean score over the days of the last seven you tracked it, as a bar.
- Strongest Today and Needs Attention: today's three best areas, and up to three tracked areas below 50%.
- What Moves Your Day: after fourteen tracked days, the three areas whose daily score is most strongly linked to the score of the rest of the day, with the correlation and the number of days used (at least ten). A positive link means that on days when that area goes well, the rest of the day tends to go well too.
- Best Weekdays: the three weekdays with the highest average overall score and the days behind each.
- Streak Records: the current and best streak, the best run of days at 80% or more, and the days tracked.
10. Settings
- Areas to Track: a switch per area with its item count and weight. Off, an area leaves the dashboard, the jump list and the overall score; its earlier entries are kept and count again when it is on. Partner, Dating, Parenting, Family and Spiritual start off.
- About: the number of areas, built-in and custom items and days tracked.
- The theme follows the site: the moon button at the top right of every page switches it.
11. Backup, Import and Reset
- Export backup: downloads life-discipline-backup-<date>.json with every day's entries, your custom items, XP, badges, streak records and settings.
- Import backup: choose a backup. A confirmation shows its date, days, XP and custom items; confirming replaces everything in this browser with the file's contents. Backups from the earlier version are accepted. A file that is not a backup is refused with a message.
- Reset all data: after a confirmation, removes every entry, custom item, badge, XP and setting the tool stored in this browser.
12. Keyboard Shortcuts
- 1 to 4: switch to Dashboard, History, Insights or Settings (when no field has the focus and no window is open)
- Enter: in the custom item window, add or save the item
- Esc: close a window
13. What Is Remembered
One entry in the browser's storage under the tool's own name holds everything: the entries by local date (each area's answered items, whether the day's XP was awarded, when it was last changed), the custom items, the XP, badges and level, the streak records and the area switches. It is written after every change. If the earlier version of the tracker left its data in this browser under its old names, it is read once on the first visit, every value checked, carried over and the old copies removed. The theme is the site's own setting, shared with every page.
14. Troubleshooting
- The score is 0% after answering. Items answered No, one star, zero of a target or far from a target time score 0; Info items never score. A critical item at 0 weighs three times.
- An area is missing. It is switched off under Settings.
- No XP after saving. The day's XP was already awarded, or nothing in the day scores above zero yet.
- The streak reset. A day with nothing tracked breaks the run; a different device, cleared site data or a restored backup changes it too.
- Old entries sit on the wrong date. The earlier version dated entries by universal time; entries carried over keep those dates. New entries use your local date.
- The badge window keeps reappearing. Several badges or a level earned at once are shown one after the other; press Great for each.
- The data is gone. Site data was cleared, a private window was closed or a different browser profile is in use. Import the last backup.
15. Support
Short answers are on the FAQ page. For anything else, use the contact form and say which browser and device you use and which area or item it concerns.
