Input

0 lines

The input is remembered in this browser until you clear it. Text files up to 2 MB can be opened or dropped.

Output

Use as input moves the result into the input box so transformations can be chained. Ctrl+Enter repeats the last one, Ctrl+Shift+C copies the output.

Transformations

29 in four groups; each line converted on its own where that makes sense

Find and replace

The result goes to the output box; the input is left as it was. With Regular expression on, $1, $2 and $& in the replacement insert the captured groups and the whole match.

How to Use TextTransform: Step-by-Step

Put the text in

Type or paste into the Input box, press Paste to take the clipboard, drop a text file on the box or open one with the button, or press Sample text to see the tool at work. The statistics, the character frequency and the word frequency update as you type, and the text is remembered in this browser until you clear it.

Pick a case

Cases has UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case (short joining words stay lowercase), Sentence case, Capitalize Each Word, aLtErNaTiNg and iNVERSE cASE. Programming cases has camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE, dot.case and Train-Case; they split the words at spaces, punctuation and capital letters and convert each line on its own.

Clean it up

Clean-ups remove extra spaces, join lines into one, trim each line, remove punctuation, strip HTML tags, reverse the text or reverse the word order. Lines sorts A to Z, Z to A or by length, shuffles, reverses the order, removes duplicate or empty lines, numbers the lines or removes numbering and bullets.

Find and replace

Type what to find and what to put in its place; the match count shows as you type. Match case, Whole word and Regular expression change how the search works, and with a regular expression the replacement can use $1, $2 and $& for the captured groups and the whole match. Replace all writes the result to the output.

Chain transformations

Each transformation works on the input and writes to the output. Press Use as input to move the output across and apply the next one: Remove extra spaces, then Remove duplicate lines, then Sort A to Z turns a messy list into a clean one in three clicks. Ctrl+Enter repeats the last transformation.

Take the result

Copy puts the output on the clipboard (Ctrl+Shift+C does the same from anywhere on the page) and Download .txt saves it as a file named after the transformation. The Statistics card gives the characters, words, unique words, sentences, paragraphs, lines and reading time of the input; the two frequency cards show the characters and words it uses most.

Why Choose TextTransform?

๐Ÿ”ค Cases that understand code

Most converters lowercase everything first and lose the word boundaries, so firstName becomes firstname. TextTransform splits at capital letters as well as spaces and underscores: firstName to first_name, user_profile_id to UserProfileId, XMLParser to xml-parser, and each line of a list converted on its own. Seven programming cases, including dot.case and Train-Case.

๐Ÿงน A whole clean-up kit

Text pasted from a PDF, a spreadsheet or a web page comes with doubled spaces, hard line breaks, stray tags and numbered lines. Seven clean-ups and eight line operations deal with all of it, and chaining them through Use as input turns a five-minute tidy into three clicks.

๐Ÿ” Find and replace done properly

Case-sensitive or not, whole words only, or a regular expression with captured groups in the replacement, with the match count live as you type and an invalid pattern pointed out instead of silently matching nothing. The input is never changed; the result goes to the output where you can check it.

๐Ÿ”’ Text that stays with you

Contracts, source code, customer lists, a draft nobody has read: every transformation runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. The input is kept in this browser's storage so it survives a reload, and Clear removes it. The only copies that leave are the files you download.

๐Ÿ“Š Numbers that update as you type

Characters with and without spaces, words, unique words, sentences, paragraphs, lines and reading time, plus the twenty most frequent characters and the fifteen most frequent words with bars, letters-only and common-word filters. No button to press; the cards follow the input.

๐ŸŒ Any language, any script

Words, capitals and letters are recognised by Unicode category, not by the English alphabet, so accented letters, Cyrillic, Greek and Devanagari are handled, and reversing text keeps emoji and other multi-unit characters whole instead of breaking them in two.

Cases, Clean-ups and Frequency

๐Ÿ”ค Which case is which

camelCase starts lowercase and capitalises every following word (firstName); it is the convention for variables in JavaScript, Java and Swift. PascalCase capitalises every word (FirstName) and names classes and types. snake_case joins lowercase words with underscores (first_name), the Python and Ruby convention for variables and the usual one for database columns. kebab-case uses hyphens (first-name) for URLs, CSS classes and file names. CONSTANT_CASE is shouting snake_case for constants and environment variables. dot.case appears in configuration keys and package names, Train-Case in HTTP headers (Content-Type).

๐Ÿงน Cleaning pasted text

A PDF gives you a hard line break at the end of every printed line: Join lines puts the paragraph back together. A spreadsheet column pasted into an email carries tabs and trailing spaces: Trim each line and Remove extra spaces. A web page brings tags and non-breaking spaces: Strip HTML tags. A list exported twice has repeats: Remove duplicate lines (ignoring surrounding spaces), then Sort A to Z, which sorts numbers inside the lines by value so item 2 comes before item 10. Remove numbering strips 1., 2) and bullet marks so a list can be renumbered.

๐Ÿ“Š What the frequencies tell you

Character frequency with Letters only shows the fingerprint of a language: in English e, t, a, o and i lead, in German e, n, i, s and r. It is the classic first step in solving a substitution cipher, and a quick check that a text is what it claims to be. Word frequency with common words ignored shows what a text is actually about; the same list with the common words included shows how it is written, which is how authorship studies begin. Both update live, so you can watch the lists change as you edit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do the programming cases decide where a word ends?

Each line is split into words at spaces, punctuation, underscores and hyphens, and also where a lowercase letter or a digit is followed by a capital, so firstName becomes first and Name, and XMLParser becomes XML and Parser. The words are then joined the way the chosen case wants: camelCase and PascalCase run them together with capitals, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE and dot.case join them with an underscore, a hyphen or a dot. Each line is converted on its own, so a list of names converts line by line.

What is the difference between Title Case and Capitalize Each Word?

Capitalize Each Word puts a capital on every word and leaves the rest of each word as it is. Title Case lowercases the text first, then capitalises every word except short joining words such as a, the, of, and, to and in, which stay lowercase unless they begin or end the line, the way headlines and book titles are written.

Can I apply several transformations one after another?

Yes. Apply the first one, press Use as input, and the output moves to the input box ready for the next. Remove extra spaces, then Remove duplicate lines, then Sort A to Z is a common chain for cleaning a list.

How does find and replace work?

Type what to find and what to replace it with and press Replace all; the result appears in the output box and the input is left as it was. The match count under the field updates as you type. Match case makes the search case-sensitive, Whole word stops it matching inside longer words, and Regular expression treats the search as a pattern, with $1, $2 and $& available in the replacement.

Where does my text go?

Nowhere. Every transformation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. The input box is remembered in this browser's storage so the text is still there when you come back, up to 100,000 characters; Clear empties it. There is no account.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

It is free, with no registration and no limits. Like every page on ZeroDataUpload, it is supported by advertising.
