SocialSizer FAQ

Questions and answers about the social media image resizer. Everything it does happens in your browser.

1. General Questions

Q1: What is SocialSizer?
A1: SocialSizer is a free tool that resizes pictures for social media in your browser. You add one picture or several, tick the sizes you need from a list of seventeen platform presets (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok) or type your own, check the crop against the safe-zone guide, choose JPG, PNG or WebP and a quality, and export every size for every picture, as one file or one ZIP. There is no server: nothing you add is uploaded.
Q2: How much does it cost?
A2: Nothing. There are no plans, no watermark and no limit on pictures or sizes. Like every page on ZeroDataUpload, the tool is supported by advertising.
Q3: Do I need an account?
A3: No. There is no registration and no login. Open the page and drop a picture on it.
Q4: Who is it for?
A4: Anyone who posts the same picture in more than one place: small businesses and shops, social media managers, bloggers, clubs and schools, photographers sending previews, and people who simply want a cover photo that is not cropped through the middle of a face.
Q5: Does it work on a phone?
A5: Yes. The preview sits at the top on narrow screens with the sizes and settings beneath it; a finger drags the view and the slider zooms. Exporting a large batch is quicker on a desktop, but a picture or two is no problem on a phone.

2. Where Your Pictures Go

Q6: Are my pictures uploaded?
A6: No. The pictures are read by your browser, drawn onto an invisible drawing surface at each size and saved from there. Nothing is sent to a server, and the tool keeps working without an internet connection once the page has loaded.
Q7: Does the tool keep anything between visits?
A7: Only the export settings (quality, format, background colour, the two switches) and the last five sizes you used, in your browser's storage on this device. The pictures themselves are never stored anywhere; reloading the page clears them.
Q8: Does the page use cookies or analytics?
A8: The tool itself stores only its own settings in the browser. The page, like every page on this site, loads Google advertising and analytics code; the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain what those services collect and how the cookie banner controls them. Your pictures are never part of it.

3. Sizes

Q9: Which sizes are included?
A9: Instagram square (1080 x 1080), portrait (1080 x 1350), landscape (1080 x 566) and story (1080 x 1920); Facebook cover (820 x 312), post (1200 x 630) and event cover (1920 x 1080); X header (1500 x 500) and post (1200 x 675); LinkedIn profile banner (1584 x 396), company banner (1128 x 191) and post (1200 x 628); YouTube thumbnail (1280 x 720) and channel banner (2560 x 1440); Pinterest pin (1000 x 1500) and square pin (1000 x 1000); TikTok (1080 x 1920).
Q10: Can I use a size that is not in the list?
A10: Yes. Type a width and a height under Custom Size and click Add Custom Size (or press Enter). Each side can be up to 8000 pixels. The size is ticked at once and listed with the others; the last five sizes you used, custom ones included, wait under Recent Sizes.
Q11: Are the sizes up to date?
A11: They are the sizes the platforms published or recommended at the time of writing (October 2026). Platforms change their frames now and then; when one does, add the new size as a custom size and it is remembered.
Q12: What does Select All do?
A12: It ticks every size in the list, custom ones included, so one export makes all of them. Clear (or Escape) unticks them all. With seventeen sizes and several pictures the export takes a few seconds and comes down as one ZIP.

4. Cropping, Fitting and Safe Zones

Q13: Does it crop or squash the picture?
A13: It never squashes. With Lock Aspect Ratio on, the picture is scaled to fill the size and the overflow is cropped from the middle. With it off, the whole picture is fitted inside the size and the gaps are filled with the background colour.
Q14: Can I choose which part is kept?
A14: The crop is always centred; the preview shows exactly what each size keeps so there are no surprises. For a picture whose subject is off-centre, crop it roughly first (any photo app does this) and then resize here, or switch Lock Aspect Ratio off to keep all of it.
Q15: What is the safe zone?
A15: The dashed frame on the preview shows the part of the picture that the first selected size will keep; the inner green frame marks a 10 percent margin inside it, where profile pictures, buttons and captions may cover the edges on the platform. Keep faces and text inside the inner frame. The guide follows the first size in your selection; untick and re-tick sizes to check another one.
Q16: What do zoom and drag change in the export?
A16: Nothing. They move and magnify the preview so you can inspect it; the safe-zone frame moves with the picture. Fit (or R) brings the whole picture back into view.

5. Formats, Quality and Files

Q17: Which format should I choose?
A17: JPG for photos (small files, a quality slider), PNG for graphics with text or transparency (lossless, larger), WebP for the smallest files where the platform accepts it. Every platform listed here accepts JPG and PNG.
Q18: What quality setting should I use?
A18: 80 to 90 for anything you post; the platforms compress again on upload, so a higher setting only makes a larger file. The slider applies to JPG and WebP; PNG ignores it.
Q19: What is the background fill for?
A19: Two things. When Lock Aspect Ratio is off, the picture is fitted inside the size and the gaps take this colour. And when a transparent PNG is saved as a JPG or a WebP, which have no transparency, the transparent parts take it too.
Q20: How are the files named?
A20: After the picture and the size: holiday_1080x1080.jpg. One file downloads on its own; two or more are packed into a single ZIP, named after the first picture, with every file inside. Export Current saves the open picture at its own pixel size, named with those dimensions.
Q21: What does Export Current do?
A21: It saves the open picture at its own size, in the chosen format and quality, with the background colour behind any transparent parts. It is a quick way to turn a PNG into a JPG or to shrink a photo's file size without changing its frame.

6. Batches

Q22: Can I resize many pictures at once?
A22: Yes. Choose or drop several files; thumbnails appear under the preview, and Export All Sizes makes every selected size for every picture. More than one file comes down as a single ZIP.
Q23: How do I add more pictures to a batch?
A23: Click the + thumbnail under the preview, click Add Pictures in the toolbar, press Ctrl+O, or drop files onto the preview. Replace in the preview controls starts over with a new set. The cross on a thumbnail removes that picture.

7. Shortcuts and Theme

Q24: Are there keyboard shortcuts?
A24: Ctrl+O choose pictures, Ctrl+E export all sizes, Ctrl+S export the current picture, Ctrl+A select every size, + and - zoom, R fit, D the page theme, ? the list of shortcuts, Escape clears the selection or closes a window. On a Mac use Cmd instead of Ctrl. Single-key shortcuts do not fire while you are typing in a field.
Q25: Can I use a dark theme for the page?
A25: Yes. The moon button at the top right (or the D key) switches the page between light and dark, and the choice follows you to every page on ZeroDataUpload. The preview keeps a checkerboard backdrop in both so transparent areas are visible.

8. Troubleshooting

Q26: "None of the files could be opened as an image."
A26: The files are not in a format the browser can draw (a PDF, a RAW camera file, a HEIC on a browser without HEIC support). Convert them first; the Image Format Converter on this site turns HEIC into JPG in the browser.
Q27: The export is blank or fails on a very large picture.
A27: Browsers limit the size of a drawing surface, and a picture with a side longer than about 8000 pixels, or more than about 60 million pixels in total, may not export. Shrink it first with UltraCompress Pro and try again. Export Current refuses pictures over 8000 pixels a side for the same reason.
Q28: The browser blocked a download.
A28: Several exports are packed into one ZIP so this does not happen. If a single download is blocked, allow downloads for zerodataupload.com in the browser's site settings and export again.
Q29: The WebP option makes a JPG or PNG instead.
A29: A few older browsers cannot write WebP and fall back to another format. Use a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
Q30: My recent sizes disappeared.
A30: Cleared browsing data, a different browser or device, a new profile or a private window: the list lives in one browser profile on one device. Add the sizes again as custom sizes.

9. Support

Q31: Where can I report a problem or suggest a size?
A31: Through the contact form. Say which browser and device you use and what you did before the problem appeared. The help documentation describes every part of the tool in order.
